Senior Frontend Engineer

OUR MISSION Bounti is building the AI-native infrastructure layer for frontline teams — spanning training, audits, and autonomous operations. We partner with multi-location operators in frontline-industries such as hospitality. We’re hiring a Senior Product Engineer to join our founding product team in Berlin. This is a hands-on role for someone who loves ownership, sweats UX details, and ships fast, end to end delivering value for customers. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Build Product End-to-End: Own features from concept → implementation → release → iteration (frontend + backend). * Ship Fast, Learn Faster: Deliver quickly, validate with customers, and iterate. Biggest risk is building the wrong thing — not imperfect code. * Customer-Driven Engineering: Talk to users and customers directly, understand the workflow pain, and turn feedback into product improvements. * Design-First Execution: Partner closely with Ziar (Designer & Co-Founder) to create experiences that feel premium and intuitive. * Raise the Engineering Bar: Improve patterns, code quality, DX, testing, and observability without slowing down shipping. * Work Like a Founder: Prioritize ruthlessly, own outcomes, and help shape what “great product engineering” looks like at Bounti. YOUR PROFILE * You have a strong product sense — you care about UX, clarity, and the tiny details that make software feel “right”. * You’re strong on the backend (you’ve built and scaled real production systems) — and you’re not afraid to go deep when needed. * You’re pragmatic and impact-driven: you know when to polish and when to ship to learn. * You write clean, understandable, maintainable code — and you communicate context early and often. * You enjoy getting close to the problem: talking to customers, understanding real-world constraints, building solutions that stick. * Experience with our stack is a plus: TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, Postgres, Prisma. Bonus points if you have: * Built AI product features (LLMs, agents, workflows, evaluation, etc.) * Mobile product experience (Flutter, React Native or similar) * ML experience You’ll work extremely closely with: * Çağatay (Senior Product Engineer) * Emanuele (Senior Product Engineer) * Yannick (Software Engineer) * Ziar (Designer & Co-Founder) …and often with Deniz (Co-Founder) who brings constant customer perspective. What You'll Be Doing * Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, design, QA) to define, design, and ship high-impact features. * Design scalable architecture and implement performant backend services using Java and Spring Boot. * Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code with a strong focus on reliability and testability. * Integrate third-party services and APIs while ensuring robust error handling and graceful degradation. * Continuously improve system performance and developer experience through automation and refactoring. * Debug complex issues across the stack and proactively identify opportunities for technical improvement. * Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and share best practices with the team. * Document technical decisions, systems, and processes for future team reference and transparency. What We're Looking For * BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. * At least 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on backend systems. * Expertise in Java and Spring Boot; solid understanding of modern backend architecture and best practices. * Experience building and scaling web services, APIs, and distributed systems. * Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and CI/CD pipelines. * Proficient with relational databases and ORM frameworks (e.g., Hibernate). * Exposure to frontend frameworks like AngularJS or React is a plus. * Strong debugging skills and a methodical approach to problem-solving. * Excellent communication skills and a team-first attitude.
