Mission Brief: The Test Technician is part of Testing Operations Team, based in Munich Area, responsible for operating, maintaining and upgrading Isar Aerospace’s test facilitys. Main area of activity is operating our Thermal cabinets and Thermal- Vacuum Chambers, hand in hand with a Team of Test Engineers and other Test technicians. The role encompasses high responsibility for the most complex parts of our Launch vehicle. Your Role in Our Space Mission: * Running our Thermal facility, which includes: Preparation of test articles and related subsystems for testing, Preparation, Installation and troubleshooting of fluidlines, Valves and electrical systems (24VDC) including analog and digital sensors and actuators, controls panels. * Maintenance of the facilities, adaption of our Test systems, according to the given Requirements and updating the documentation accordingly. * Support testing operations as required, including performing manual operations on pressurized and cryogenic systems. * Time limited Deployments on our Launchbase in Andoya, Norway and our Test site in Kiruna, Sweden might occur, from time to time. Qualification Checklist: * Degree and proven experience as a Mechanic, Car- Mechatronic, Mechanic for agricultural or construction Equipment, machining Mechanic or precision mechanic. * Preferably with (first) experiences in high-tech industry or industrial setting. * Wiring and Fluid diagrams are way more than nice drawings for you. * Even under pressure you proof strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. * Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. * Excellent communication skills, both, written and verbal, meaning fluent conversation in English, German (B2) Bonus Skills: * Hands-on experience with high pressure Fluid systems up to 800 Bar, preferably Swagelok. * Familiarity with ATEX regulations, high-pressure environments, compressed gases, and cryogenic systems (LN2) is highly desirable. * Occupational trade school qualification in a mechanical field. * Experience with CAD Design Software such as AutoCAD or similar. At NewOrbit Space, our mission is to engineer the lowest orbiting satellites on Earth to rapidly advance global connectivity and insight. We are currently building satellites that can operate at an altitude of just 200 km - one-third that of conventional satellites. Your role You will be a hands-on technician supporting the build, integration and test of electronic boards, harnesses and mechanical test setups for the AURA gridded-ion thruster. You will work across the full hardware lifecycle - from assembling and inspecting flight-quality electronics and harnesses, through building up bench and mechanical test rigs, to supporting Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) campaigns on the thruster and its control electronics. You will report into the AIT team and work alongside the electronics, control, software and satellite teams, taking direction from engineers while owning the quality and traceability of the hardware you build and test. Key Responsibilities * Assemble, rework and inspect electronic boards to IPC-A-610 Class 3 standards. * Build and terminate wiring harnesses and cable assemblies to IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards. * Crimp, solder and lace harnesses; install backshells, connector savers and EMC / HV protective measures. * Build up mechanical and electrical test setups, including fixtures, jigs and bench instrumentation. * Support AIT activities on the thruster and its electronics, including functional testing, environmental test support (thermal vacuum, vibration) and continuity / insulation checks. * Read and work from schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings and assembly procedures. * Maintain as-built records, test logs, travellers and non-conformance reports to support traceability of flight hardware. * Operate and maintain lab equipment — oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads and DAQ systems. * Support functional, performance and environmental testing of the thruster, its power processing and control electronics, the propellant feed system, and the spacecraft-level integration. Fundamental Requirements * IPC-A-610 Class 3 certification (or equivalent demonstrated experience to Class 3 standards). * IPC/WHMA-A-620 harness and cable assembly certification. * Proven hands-on experience assembling, reworking and inspecting electronic boards and harnesses. * Experience building up mechanical and electrical test setups from drawings and procedures. * Experience supporting AIT or equivalent integration and test activities on electronic hardware. * Confident use of standard lab instrumentation (oscilloscope, multimeter, power supply, electronic load, DAQ). * ESD-aware working practices (ANSI/ESD S20.20 or equivalent). * Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings. * Strong attention to detail and discipline in documentation and traceability. Nice-to-haves * J-STD-001 soldering certification (Space Addendum desirable). * Experience working in a cleanroom or ISO-classified environment. * Space or other high-reliability industry experience (aerospace, defence, medical). * Familiarity with ECSS standards, particularly ECSS-Q-ST-70 (workmanship). * Experience working with high-voltage and/or power electronics hardware. * Basic CAD literacy (SolidWorks, NX or CATIA) for interpreting models and marking up drawings. Personality * Safety-first mindset, particularly around high-voltage, pressurised and vacuum operations. * Comfortable in a fast-moving development environment where hardware and procedures evolve quickly. * Collaborative team player who can take direction from engineers while owning hands-on quality. JOB SUMMARY As an Electronics Laboratory Technician, you will support the day-to-day operation of Graphcore’s Bristol laboratories, helping to ensure that facilities, equipment, tools and processes are ready to support engineering activity. Working as part of the Laboratory team, you will help maintain a safe, organised and reliable electronics lab environment, supporting cross-functional teams with equipment setup, preventative maintenance, asset control, ESD checks and technical documentation. THE TEAM The Laboratory team supports the installation, maintenance, repair and modification of electronic systems, cables and equipment within Graphcore’s laboratories. The team works closely with engineering groups to help set up test benches, troubleshoot routine lab issues and ensure that equipment is safe, available and operating reliably. The team also maintains technical documentation, manages tools, assets and test equipment, and contributes to efficient, high-quality laboratory operations. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES · Support the installation, setup and calibration of electronic test equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analysers, power supplies and related laboratory equipment. · Carry out preventative maintenance activities to help keep laboratory equipment available, safe and reliable. · Maintain a clean, organised and safe laboratory environment in line with health and safety requirements. · Check and maintain ESD countermeasures, escalating issues where corrective action is required. · Support asset management activities, including tracking tools, equipment and laboratory assets. · Manage goods in/out processes for laboratory equipment, components and related materials. · Support engineering teams with test bench setup, equipment configuration and technical readiness for hardware bring-up, validation and characterisation activities. · Help create and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions and technical guidance for laboratory users. · Provide practical support to laboratory users, including guidance on safe equipment use and routine lab processes. · Support engineering teams with board, cable and wire modifications, following agreed procedures and quality expectations. · Maintain accurate records for equipment, maintenance activity, assets and laboratory processes. · Identify routine laboratory issues and work with colleagues to resolve or escalate them promptly. CANDIDATE PROFILE ESSENTIAL: · Experience working in an electronics laboratory or similar technical environment. · Strong practical understanding of electronic test equipment, including setup, calibration and basic troubleshooting. · Awareness of ESD controls and safe working practices in an electronics lab environment. · Ability to follow technical procedures accurately and maintain clear records. · Practical experience supporting equipment maintenance, lab organisation or asset tracking. · Good attention to detail, with a focus on quality, safety and reliability. · Clear communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineering and operations teams. · A proactive and organised approach to managing tasks and supporting laboratory users.
