At MyFitnessPal, we believe good health starts with what you eat. We provide tools, resources and support to enable users to reach their health goals. As the Sr. Manager, Federal Programs, you'll lead the MyFitnessPal business unit working alongside a major systems integrator (the Prime) to support initiatives for the U.S. federal government. You will build strong partnerships with our prime contractor, government program stakeholders, and cross-functional leaders across MyFitnessPal's product, engineering, security, and legal teams. Your leadership skills and command of federal security and compliance will allow MyFitnessPal to deliver on initiatives inside a government program. This role is part of the Technology Operations (TechOps) organization, which includes IT, Infrastructure, Security, Site Reliability Engineering, and DevOps/DevEx disciplines. The TechOps org seeks to enable MyFitnessPal to "ship with confidence" by delivering a secure, reliable, and low-friction runway to build and operate software at scale, including within the rigorous security and compliance environment of the U.S. federal government. Essential Duties: Reporting to the VP, TechOps, you will own the MyFitnessPal Federal business unit end to end: its security and compliance posture, delivery of the nutrition and health capability, the relationship with the contract Prime, and the business unit’s P&L. Above all, you are the accountable owner for meeting and maintaining security, privacy, and contractual requirements, allowing product excellence and growth to follow from that foundation. You will help stand up the team, establish the operating cadence of a federal-facing business, and serve as the senior face to our prime and government customers. This is a U.S.-based, remote role and requires eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING: * Stand up and lead the MFP Federal team and establish the governance and internal controls of a federal-facing business unit * Own the entity's P&L, operating budget, and KPIs, and partner with MyFitnessPal corporate functions (legal, security, HR, finance) to keep the entity aligned and well-supported * Own delivery of capabilities against the scope, schedule, quality, and service-level commitments set forth in the contract * Translate government requirements into a credible product and delivery roadmap, partnering across MyFitnessPal product and engineering * Serve as the primary senior point of contact and corporate liaison to our prime and government stakeholders, building a trusted-partner relationship and identifying opportunities to expand scope within the program and into adjacent federal work * Manage the security and compliance requirements that flow down from the prime, and demonstrate the product and business’s compliance status prior to and throughout the period of performance * Govern the handling of sensitive data, including segregation between the federal entity and commercial MyFitnessPal, privacy controls, audit readiness, and incident response QUALIFICATIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE: * 8+ years of experience, including senior leadership of a business unit, program, or P&L, with a meaningful portion in or adjacent to the U.S. federal / Department of War (DoD) market * Demonstrated, hands-on command of federal security and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST SP 800-171, DFARS 252.204-7012/-7021, CMMC, FedRAMP, and RMF/ATO processes) sufficient to own MFP Federal’s posture * Experience operating as, or working with, a Department of War (DoD) prime or subcontractor, including managing requirements and contractual compliance * Proven track record of standing up or scaling a team or function and delivering complex software or technology programs on schedule * Strong executive communication and stakeholder management; able to be the credible senior face of MFP to a prime and to Government customers * U.S. person, able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, as required, and willing to travel partner sites, as required * Hold an active DoD 8140-compliant certification * Experience handling CUI and PII in regulated environments * Background in digital health, human performance, wearables, or nutrition/wellness technology is a plus * Relevant industry certifications (e.g., PMP, CISSP, or CMMC-related credentials) are a plus Values you’ll model * Be Kind and Care — build with empathy; assume positive intent; support teammates and members. * Live Good Health — champion healthy habits and balance in how we work and what we ship. * Be Data-Inspired — ground decisions in research and data; measure what matters. * Champion Change — lean into ambiguity; iterate, learn, and improve continuously. * Leave it Better than You Found It — raise quality, clarify systems, and document as you go. * Make It Happen — bias to action; deliver impact with craft and accountability. At MyFitnessPal, we believe good health starts with what you eat. We provide tools, resources and support to enable users to reach their health goals. We are looking for a Software Engineer III - Site Reliability to join the MyFitnessPal PEAS team. As a member of the PEAS team, you'll have the opportunity to positively impact MyFitnessPal users through your expertise in the reliability and delivery systems that keep the MyFitnessPal ecosystem fast, available, and safe to change. In addition to technical expertise, you'll find that your teammates value collaboration, mentorship, and inclusive environments. About the team: The Productivity Engineering: Automation & Self-Service (PEAS) team is responsible for the automation, CI/CD, and self-service platforms that product teams rely on to build, test, and ship features quickly and safely. The PEAS team is part of the Technology Operations (TechOps) organization, which includes IT, Infrastructure, Security, Reliability, and DevOps/DevEx disciplines. TechOps seeks to enable MyFitnessPal to "ship with confidence" by delivering a secure, reliable, and low-friction runway to build and operate software at scale. Essential Duties: As a Software Engineer III on the PEAS team, you will own reliability across our production services and maintain security in the software delivery pipeline. You'll define how we measure and defend reliability, lead us through incidents, and make our CI/CD pipelines both faster and harder to compromise. You will play a key role in delivering an outstanding experience to MyFitnessPal users. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING: * Own and evolve our SLI/SLO and error-budget frameworks, and use them to influence prioritization and product decisions * Lead incident response, drive postmortems, and turn findings into systemic fixes rather than one-off patches * Build and maintain observability across metrics, logs, and traces (Datadog), improving signal and reducing alert fatigue * Design and operate resilient, scalable infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) * Manage production Kubernetes and container workloads, including capacity planning and cloud-cost optimization * Own CI/CD pipelines and safe deployment strategies (canary, progressive rollout, fast rollback) * Own the security controls that live inside the delivery pipeline — integrating and tuning SAST, DAST, and SCA scanning (for example, in GitHub Actions) so issues surface while code is still in review * Implement and maintain policy-as-code (for example, OPA/Rego, Kyverno, or Conftest) to block unsafe infrastructure and Kubernetes changes at admission time * Drive vulnerability triage and remediation SLAs for pipeline- and infrastructure-level findings, prioritizing by real risk * Partner with our Security Engineer and the broader Security & Reliability disciplines — you own security in the pipeline and collaborate on the rest, rather than duplicating that function * Participate in and improve the on-call rotation; build the runbooks and automation that make on-call sustainable * Coach team members and engineers across the org on reliability patterns and operational best practices QUALIFICATIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE: * 5+ years in site reliability, platform, or infrastructure engineering, with clear senior-level ownership of production systems * Strong programming skills for automation and tooling (Go, Python, Typescript or similar) — you have experience building software or custom tooling, not just scripts * Deep, hands-on experience with a major cloud platform (AWS is a plus), Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform is a plus) * Proven track record leading incident response and building SLO-driven reliability practices. * Working fluency with observability tooling (Datadog is a plus) * Practical experience integrating security into CI/CD pipelines — SAST/DAST/SCA tooling, dependency scanning, or policy-as-code * Strong understanding of cloud security fundamentals (identity/IAM, least-privilege patterns, policy/guardrails, secrets management) * The judgment and communication skills to raise a security or reliability finding with a senior engineer and land it as a shared problem to solve, not a fight to win * Experience with policy-as-code frameworks (especially Kyverno, but tools like OPA/Rego or Conftest are also relevant) enforced at admission time is a plus * Exposure to regulated or compliance-driven environments (SOC 2, PCI DSS, HIPAA) is a plus * Chaos engineering or game-day experience is a plus * Experience supporting B2C/mobile backend environments with high traffic, rapid iteration, and strong reliability needs is a plus Values you’ll model * Be Kind and Care — build with empathy; assume positive intent; support teammates and members. At Upvest, we are on a mission to make investing as easy as spending money. Upvest empowers businesses to offer a wide range of investment products and the best experience in the field of capital market investment and retirement planning. Upvest’s Investment API is easy to integrate so that fintechs and financial institutions can save resources and fully focus on their core business. We are proud to partner with Europe’s leading Fintechs and financial institutions such as DKB, Revolut, N26 and Raisin. Founded in 2017 by Martin Kassing, Upvest now brings together over 270 talented professionals from more than 70 nationalities. Upvest is backed by €280M in total funding from world-class investors, including BlackRock, Tencent, Sapphire Ventures, and Bessemer Venture Partners, Earlybird, Notion Capital, and Motive. Our latest €105M funding round in March 2026 - led by Sapphire and Tencent - serves as a massive catalyst for our growth, allowing us to offer premier investment experience. ABOUT THE ROLE: As a Senior Engineer, you'll be a core part of a small, high-ownership TechOps function at Upvest. This is not an execution-only role. You're expected to bring ideas, challenge assumptions, flag risks early, and operate with a high degree of autonomy. You are trusted to make senior-level decisions independently across prioritisation, vendor conversations, and urgent matters. TechOps owns most internal technologies, including endpoints and SaaS, and partners with every business unit to drive automation, improve processes, and bring emerging technologies into the organisation where they add real value. WHAT YOU’LL DO: * Owning our core internal IT stack (i.e. Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, etc), user lifecycle management and security controls in close collaboration with our Security team * Managing our Mac laptop fleet, zero-touch DEP/MDM device deployments, and ensuring company endpoints meet the company’s security standards * Acting as a trusted advisor to teams: evaluating, challenging, and prioritising tooling requests rather than simply fulfilling them * Continuously looking for ways to automate and improve processes across TechOps and every department we support, and taking ownership of seeing those improvements through * Actively leveraging AI tools in your daily work to raise the quality and speed of your output, and helping the broader team do the same * Collaborating with the Security team on AI tool governance and how LLMs connect to internal systems, ensuring safe and controlled adoption * Participating in response activities when a security event occurs WHAT YOU BRING: Genuinely hands-on - you're comfortable owning support end-to-end across all levels, from basic helpdesk to complex technical issues, without drawing lines around what's 'your' problem. Everything else in this role is built on top of that. * Demonstrated ability to think critically, challenge assumptions, prioritise high-value work, and propose better alternatives. Not just execute * Proven experience building and maintaining automations using tools like Okta Workflows, n8n, Tines, Make or similar, with real examples you can speak to * Active, hands-on use of AI tools (LLMs, AI-assisted workflows, and similar) to meaningfully improve the quality and speed of your work. This is a baseline expectation, not a nice-to-have * Strong understanding of macOS and Apple device management (MDM/DEP) * Prior experience with Okta, Google Workspace is required IT’S GREAT IF YOU HAVE: * Familiarity with Git, GitHub, GitHub Actions, and Terraform is a plus, particularly in the context of infrastructure-as-code * Knowledge of scripting languages or our tech stack (Golang, Python, Docker, k8s) is a plus, but not a requirement HOW WE UPVEST IN YOU: * Best-in-class AI tools: Every Upvenger has €20,000 per year to spend on the best AI tools available — so you're always working with the most powerful models and tooling on the market. * Impact-driven work: We’re building the infrastructure that will power the future of investing in Europe. It’s complex, ambitious, and meaningful. You’ll work with modern technologies and create something entirely new. No legacy systems, no limits. * Wellbeing: Recharge with 30 days of annual leave and maintain a healthy lifestyle with sports benefits. Access confidential professional coaching and enjoy the flexibility to work remotely abroad for up to 183 days a year. Recharge with UpRest, a one-month fully paid sabbatical after every 4 years of working at Upvest. * Development: Growth is in our DNA. Each Upvenger has access to a personal development budget and the freedom to decide how to use it. * Flexible work environment: Work from any of our hubs in Berlin, London or Tallinn hybrid or remotely across Europe, depending on the role. We give you the choice and budget to work where you’re most comfortable and productive, either at home or in the office. You choose. * Compensation and equity: We believe that all Upvengers contribute to our success and deserve a competitive, above-market salary and a participation in our employee equity program. * Team celebrations: Participate in company-wide events, such as UpFest, dinners, offsites and our Holiday party, to connect with colleagues and celebrate our achievements. * Inclusion: We’re committed to a culture where everyone belongs and thrives. Our Employee Resources Groups foster inclusion and connection, like Upfem for our female Upvengers, or UpVergent supporting neurodivergent Upvengers and allies. OUR VALUES: * Make it easy for others. We simplify the complex and act with the best intentions. * Own the outcome. We are proactive, fast and confident to get the job done, valuing progress over perfection. * Rise to the challenge. We aim high and push the boundaries. We stay curious, learn and celebrate our wins together. * Tell the story. We start with the Why to align on purpose. We are transparent and share knowledge to empower and inspire others. Upvest is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
