As a Control and Protection Commissioning Engineer you will be part of the HVDC unit. You will get involved in the later stages of system testing at Hitachi Energy premises and lead commissioning activities of Control and Protection and SCADA at customer sites. You will be part of the hand-over and trial operations of HVDC links, with a direct interface with customers and opportunities to travel globally.
How you’ll make an impact
Organize and execute testing and commissioning activities, including test equipment management.
Participate in technical discussions with clients and consultants.
Ensure full understanding of scope and division of work.
Communicate all changes to the Commissioning Manager.
Ensure customer commitments are met according to contract.
Support tender work related to commissioning scope.
Analyze disturbances during commissioning and operation.

Your background
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Experience in Control and Protection or SCADA from design or testing stages.
Experience in AC substations or HVDC technology.
Experience in commissioning work in plants of varying size and complexity.
Knowledge of MACH, IEC61850, HVDC projects or IED relay programming is an advantage.
Fluency in English.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously.

The Opportunity In this role, you will be part of the HVDC System Performance Department, responsible for the overall performance of HVDC transmission links and their interaction with AC networks, including related stability studies. As a System Study Engineer, you will contribute to large-scale HVDC projects and gain exposure to system studies throughout the entire project lifecycle. Your Background You hold a Bachelor’s degree (preferably with HVDC experience), Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical engineering, Power systems, Engineering physics, or a related field. You may be an experienced Power System Studies Engineer or a recent graduate — we welcome committed and motivated talents at various levels. Familiarity with tools such as PSCAD/EMTDC, PSSE, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, Matlab, NETOMAC, and/or ETAP is an advantage. Strong command of spoken and written English is required; Swedish is a plus.
