Our main tech stack: * NodeJS/Typescript * Google Cloud Platform * Postgresql Key Responsibilities * Develop high-quality software within agreed timelines, addressing complex problems by proposing various solutions and considering trade-offs to assist your team in making effective technical decisions. * Solve technical challenges by delivering scalable and maintainable solutions efficiently, while balancing trade-offs. * Understand the core features and KPIs of your product, working closely with the Product Manager to drive the product’s development. * Be comfortable in an on-call environment, responding to high-priority issues and knowing when to escalate them. About You * You have at least 2+ years of professional software engineering experience. * Collaborate openly, share knowledge with teammates, and take shared ownership of software design decisions. * Hold yourself to a high bar for code quality and are receptive to constructive feedback as well as able to give it. * Can work through complex and unfamiliar problems with a clear head, knowing when to push through independently and when to loop in the right people. * Have a keen eye for detail and take pride in understanding your work thoroughly. You have a genuine interest in the world of investments. * Stay current with technology trends and actively apply good engineering practices in your day-to-day work. The Role We are building a brand-new engineering hub in London, and we are looking for foundational Senior Backend Software Engineers to help us kick it off. This is a unique opportunity: you will be joining a completely new team, building a new hub from scratch, and working remotely from the rest of our global Tech organisation. You'll be an integral part of this new product team, so you will help define, build, and deliver our product features. You will work towards specific outcomes with the freedom and responsibility to figure out the best way to achieve them together with your team. Your mission will be to help refine, design, implement, deliver, and maintain an international top-class product, ensuring quality, maintainability, and sustainability. As a senior member of this new team, you will serve as a technical anchor—taking full ownership of complex backend challenges, partnering closely with your Lead Engineer to set high quality standards, and helping guide mid-level engineers as the hub grows. The Tech Stack We have created a scalable Spring Boot Application running on Java 25 in Kubernetes, deployed in a multi-region setup in AWS. Developers are able to run a full development environment locally, which gives a great developer experience. Responsibilities * Build and evolve our backend services and infrastructure to stay ahead of our growth curve. * Develop exciting new features for our customers and businesses who partner with us. * Actively participate in your team’s agile development processes with a continuous improvement mindset. * Strive to deliver international top-class products with maximum quality, maintainability and scalability. * Take on additional tasks outside your current boundaries with help from your team to continue to grow and expand your skills. * Take ownership of complex backend features end-to-end—driving efficient technical design, high test coverage, and smooth deployments in close collaboration with your Lead Engineer. The ideal candidate * A wealth of experience in Backend development with the Java ecosystem. * Proven production experience with Java, SpringBoot, MySQL, Message System & GIT. * Has worked with Domain Driven Design, and Clean, or Hexagonal Architecture. * Knowledge of AWS services (SQS, SNS, S3…), ElasticSearch, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes. * Experience with Restful APIs. * Proven ability to break down ambiguous technical tasks into clean, production-ready code independently, while acting as a supportive mentor and reliable sounding board for mid-level engineers. * Experience with building scalable solutions. * Enjoys actively participating in a cross-functional product team. * Takes pride in writing quality code.
