🎯 How you will make an impact:

Lead CE certification for drone systems, including safety analysis, conformity evaluation, and technical documentation.

Drive certification and approval processes with EASA and the German LBA for UAS systems across categories and operational

scenarios.

Support and coordinate approval processes with the Bundeswehr’s LufABw for military UAS platforms.

Prepare and maintain safety assessments, including hazard analyses, risk assessments, SORA, and system safety documentation.

Interpret and apply international standards, including EU 2019/947 & 945, MIL‑STD, and environmental standards.

Advise engineering and leadership on regulatory impacts of design decisions and ensure lifecycle compliance.

Create and maintain compliance documentation, technical files, safety cases, and certification reports.

Track regulatory changes, EASA rulings, and emerging UAS standards to ensure long‑term conformity and readiness.

✅ What you need to be successful:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Safety Engineering, or related fields.

3+ years of experience in product safety, certification, or regulatory compliance for unmanned systems, aircraft systems, or

other regulated products.

Strong understanding of CE marking, EU safety directives, and conformity assessment procedures.

Working knowledge of EASA and LBA UAS certification environments, including operational authorization pathways.

Experience with or support of LufABw approval processes is a strong advantage.

Hands-on experience with system safety and risk assessments (SORA, FMEA, FTA, FHA, etc.).

Ability to interpret technical standards and convert them into actionable engineering requirements.

Strong communication and documentation skills, especially in English and German.

A structured, systematic, and ownership-driven approach to problem solving.

You will be at the front lines of system validation - working closely with hardware, software, and mission teams to plan, execute, and evaluate test flights of drone systems and their intercept capabilities. 🎯 How you will make an impact: * Develop, plan, conduct and report on comprehensive flight test campaigns for UAV and counter-UAS systems, from concept validation through operational evaluation. * Define test objectives, methodologies, procedures, and success criteria to verify system performance, reliability, and safety. * Analyze flight test data to assess performance, identify root causes of anomalies, and drive corrective actions in collaboration with engineering teams. * Produce clear test documentation, maintaining configuration control and traceability throughout the test campaign. * Ensure compliance with applicable aviation regulations, safety standards, and company flight test processes. * Support operational evaluation, product acceptance testing and customer demonstrations. * Occasionally travel to remote test ranges as required. ✅ What you need to be successful: * Experience in flight test engineering, flight operations, systems validation, or verification and testing of UAV, aerospace, robotics, or autonomous systems. * Demonstrated experience designing and executing structured test programs and translating requirements into test procedures and acceptance criteria. * Strong understanding of flight control systems, avionics, autonomy, navigation, and vehicle performance evaluation. * Experience analyzing flight data, telemetry, and test results using engineering tools and methodologies. * Working knowledge of UAV integration, including sensors, payloads, communications systems, and mission equipment. * Familiarity with risk management, flight safety processes, and aviation regulatory frameworks. * Ability to work effectively in hands-on field environments while maintaining engineering rigor and attention to detail. * Excellent technical communication and reporting skills. YOUR MISSION As a Safety Engineer you will be responsible for defining, implementing, and verifying the safety of our advanced Loitering Munition systems throughout their entire lifecycle, ensuring compliance with both national (German) and international (NATO) military and relevant civil aviation standards. This is a critical role to ensure both product safety (functional and ordnance) for our NATO customers and occupational safety in our operations. RESPONSIBILITIES * Plan, establish, and execute the System Safety Program (SSP) in accordance with MIL-STD-882E (Standard Practice for System Safety) and relevant AOP-52 (Guidance on Software Safety Design and Assessment of Munition-Related Computing Systems) or equivalent NATO standards. * Conduct and manage formal safety analyses, including Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA), System Hazard Analysis (SHA), Operating and Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA), and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA/FMEDA) for both hardware and software. * Implement and verify functional safety requirements for electrical, electronic, and programmable electronic systems, with a strong focus on the methodology and lifecycle approach of IEC 61508 (Functional Safety of E/E/PE Safety-Related Systems) adapted for defense applications. * Prepare and manage safety-related documentation, including Safety Cases, Safety Assessment Reports (SAR), and Safety Justifications required for domestic and NATO customer acceptance and service suitability (S3) certification. * Maintain an awareness of civil aviation safety standards from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), particularly in areas like Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) or other relevant regulations, to address potential dual-use or operational safety aspects in controlled airspace. * Translate customer (NATO/military) and statutory safety requirements into verifiable system and subsystem requirements. * Participate in design reviews, test readiness reviews, and acceptance boards as the safety Subject Matter Expert (SME). * Support the company's OHS program, ensuring compliance with German Occupational Safety Law (Arbeitssicherheitsgesetz - ASiG) and related regulations for handling ordnance and operating complex machinery. * Define and implement internal safety processes, tools, and best practices to continually improve the company's safety culture and management system.
