Grace Sports Bar, located on Gothenburg's iconic Avenyn, is a modern gastro sports bar where rugged charm meets elegant design. Inspired by the atmosphere of classic speakeasies and different historical eras, we've created a unique destination where exceptional food, sports, entertainment, and a vibrant atmosphere come together.
We serve a modern gastro bar menu featuring carefully selected ingredients, with a strong focus on flavor, quality, and craftsmanship. We're now looking for a dedicated Chef to join our kitchen team and be part of our continued journey.
About the Role
As a Chef at Grace Sports Bar, you'll become an important part of a close-knit and passionate team. You'll work in a creative kitchen where both quality and efficiency are highly valued. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute your own ideas and play an active role in developing new dishes and our menu.
Responsibilities
Prepare and serve dishes according to our menu
Prepare ingredients and manage daily mise en place
Ensure every dish meets our high standards for quality and presentation
Contribute to the development of new dishes and seasonal menus
Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards

Has previous experience working as a chef (à la carte experience is an advantage)

The Cook is responsible for the food production, sanitation, and organization associated with its designated station. (I.e. Greenroom Kitchen, TPT Kitchen, Marquee Kitchen). The Cook will prepare food items for the Staff Greenroom, Festival Theatre Cafés, Internal and External Catering Events. The Cook works in collaboration with the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs to supervise and coach other employees to achieve high standards, effective production and ensure food costs are in line with the department’s budget. Responsibilities: * Communicate with supervisors at production meetings regarding special events, daily menus and changes to standards/procedures. * Monitor catering clipboards; being aware of upcoming events * Provide internal and external catering services as required, including transportation of food. * Sanitize work area, stock ingredients, finish food preparation * Process raw ingredients for use in upcoming events/menus, using techniques such as chopping, slicing, paring, peeling, blanching, marinating, braising, poaching, boiling, sautéing, frying, and roasting. * Cook food orders as needed within the appropriate time frame. * Monitor food items to ensure consistency, proper portioning, appropriate temperatures and correct ingredients. * Communicate with Greenroom guests, keying orders into the POS system and handling payments in the Greenroom at times when the Greenroom Host is unavailable. * Collect dishes in guest areas and wash dishes/kitchen wares when the Kitchen Steward is unavailable. * Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment, cleaning the kitchen and dining areas throughout the shift, and replenishing stock as necessary. * Follow all organizational and governmental health/safety standards at all times * Maintain a clean and tidy appearance at all times, adhering to established uniform standards * Clean and shut down equipment at the appropriate time. * Organize storage areas and assisting with inventory counting as needed * Adhere to the Stratford Festival Health & Safety Commitment and Procedures, and ensure that safe work practices and policies are supported and enforced within reporting structure. * Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: * High school diploma (grade 12) or equivalent. * 2 to 4 years of related experience * Ability to understand and follow directions from others * Flexible availability to work a variety of operating hours * Reliable transportation to and from work * Proficiency in English: verbal and written communication * Any other culinary related diplomas or certificates considered an asset Behavioural Competencies: * Organization skills: create structure and optimally use resources to achieve results and ensure productivity * Teamwork: readily work with others towards a shared goal, actively support teammates and recognize everyone’s contributions * Time Management: efficiently allocate and use time to meet goals and deadlines, prioritize tasks as necessary.

What Success Looks Like: Your Impact * Prepares menu items according to recipes, presentation standards, and guest specifications. * Cooks proteins to pre-determined temperatures and ensures quality and consistency of dishes. * Leads small culinary teams in banquet execution and daily preparation needs. * Follows proper food handling and storage practices in accordance with local and state regulations. * Conducts inventory, monitors product levels, and communicates replenishment needs to the Chef team. * Ensures sanitary and well-maintained food preparation areas and kitchen equipment. * Operates and maintains specialized kitchen equipment including slicers, Robo-Coup, Hobart mixers, and convection ovens. * Demonstrates mastery of knife skills and proper butchering techniques. * Adjusts preparations for flavor and presentation while accommodating guest needs in a timely manner. * Provides direction and guidance to line cooks during service to ensure smooth kitchen operations. * Attends all scheduled meetings and training sessions. * Other tasks as assigned based on business needs and levels. * Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned by management to support departmental and organizational goals. What You Bring * 5+ years industry experience * Able to cook proteins to pre-determined temperatures * Ability to cook and direct a banquet up to 100 with a help of a small team * Necessary State Food Handler’s License(s) * Ability to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to other employees of the organization * Working knowledge of all mother and minor sauces * Working knowledge of proper butchering techniques * Knowledge of specialized equipment: Mastering of slicer, Robo-coup, Hobart, convection ovens * Must possess knife skills, the ability to adjust preparations for flavor, and accommodate customer’s needs in a timely manner Don’t meet every single requirement?
