About Agoda At Agoda, we bridge the world through travel. Our story began in 2005, when two lifelong friends and entrepreneurs, driven by their passion for travel, launched Agoda to make it easier for everyone to explore the world. Today, we are part of Booking Holdings [NASDAQ: BKNG], with a diverse team of over 7,000 people from 90 countries, working together in offices around the globe. Every day, we connect people to destinations and experiences, with our great deals across our millions of hotels and holiday properties, flights, and experiences worldwide. No two days are the same at Agoda. Data and technology are at the heart of our culture, fueling our curiosity and innovation. If you’re ready to begin your best journey and help build travel for the world, join us. THIS ISN'T A MAINTENANCE ROLE. YOU DON'T JUST REPORT THE NUMBERS. YOU CHANGE WHAT THEY MEAN. Agoda Finance doesn't sit on the sidelines. We sit at the table where decisions get made — and we make sure those decisions are backed by the sharpest financial thinking in the room. We're looking for someone who sees a set of financials and immediately asks "what does this tell us, and what should we do about it?" Someone who can walk into a room of senior stakeholders, command their attention, and translate complex financial realities into clear, compelling narratives that drive action. If you've spent your career building something — better processes, stronger controls, smarter reporting — and you're ready to do it at scale, across borders, and at one of Asia's most dynamic tech companies, this is your seat. WHAT YOU'LL OWN 🌏 INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL REPORTING * Lead financial reporting across multiple jurisdictions — owning the numbers, the narrative, and the decisions that follow. * Be the go-to voice for financial performance analysis that shapes how Agoda's leadership thinks about the business. * Partner directly with Booking Holdings and affiliated global brands on cross-entity financial matters. 🏗️ BUILD WHAT DOESN'T EXIST YET * Take the lead on high-impact finance projects — new payment methods, new product launches, new market entries. * Design the data flows, workflows, and control frameworks that will underpin Agoda's next chapter. * Drive UAT, post-go-live monitoring, and continuous improvement — from concept to execution. 🔒 CONTROLS & COMPLIANCE THAT ACTUALLY WORK * Own the internal control environment across jurisdictions — SOX, Anti-Corruption, Corporate Policy — not as a checkbox exercise, but as a genuine competitive advantage. * Oversee reconciliations across all significant balance sheet accounts and ensure exceptions are surfaced, understood, and resolved. * Translate accounting policy into practical, operational guidance that teams can actually use. 🧾 TAX INTELLIGENCE * Navigate corporate income tax, withholding tax, and indirect tax obligations across the countries where Agoda operates. * Equip the Tax team with the precise, timely information they need to stay compliant and ahead of risk. 🚀 LEAD, DEVELOP, ELEVATE * Build a team that's better because of you — through coaching, mentorship, and setting a standard of excellence. * Create an environment where smart people are challenged, supported, and growing. WHO YOU ARE You're not looking for a quiet corner of the finance world. You're looking for leverage — a place where your intelligence, your judgment, and your drive to improve things actually moves the needle. You bring: * 15+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including meaningful time at management level. * A track record of owning financial reporting end-to-end — not just producing it, but improving it. * Deep fluency in local GAAP and/or US GAAP, internal controls, and multi-jurisdictional compliance. * The ability to lead through complexity — across teams, time zones, and competing priorities. * Exceptional communication skills — you can present to a CFO and coach a junior analyst in the same afternoon. * Advanced Excel skills and comfort working in a data-rich environment. * A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance. YOU'LL STAND OUT IF YOU HAVE * CPA qualification and a background in audit * SQL and data analysis skills — because the best finance leaders don't wait for the data team to answer their questions. * Experience working in or with high-growth tech companies or complex multinational structures. WHY AGODA FINANCE This team has a seat at every major strategic conversation at Agoda. We don't just report on the business — we help shape it. You'll work on projects that matter, with people who are genuinely excellent, in a culture that rewards curiosity and rewards results. Your career here has a path. Your ideas here have an audience. Your work here has an impact. With ambitious plans to grow into new markets, this is a role for a highly commercial lawyer who has operated at a senior level, built or led a legal and compliance function, and is ready to help further shape the whole thing. Our ambition is to keep growing, including into new geographies, and our legal and regulatory function needs to be ready for that. You'll be shaping the function, not just running it. That means continuing to set the strategy, build frameworks that can scale into new markets, support the team, and being the person the business turns to when the stakes are high. You’ll champion the use of AI and legal technology tools across the function, from contract review and regulatory research to compliance monitoring to make us a faster, more scalable team WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING LEGAL LEADERSHIP * Own all legal matters across corporate, commercial, IP, employment, data, product, and fundraising * Drive and support geographic expansion, including navigating legal and regulatory requirements in new markets * Lead and negotiate high-value commercial partnerships, customer and supplier contracts * Advise the CEO and leadership team on legal risk as we launch new products and enter new markets * Manage external counsel relationships and budgets with rigour and commercial discipline * Build scalable legal infrastructure: templates, processes, playbooks, and training REGULATORY COMPLIANCE * Own GetGround's compliance with FCA regulations across all products and markets, including Consumer Duty, COBS, and MCOB * Act as (or appoint and oversee) the Compliance Officer and MLRO, with full accountability for AML, KYC, and financial crime controls * Lead proactive engagement with the FCA and other regulatory bodies, and build the relationships and frameworks that will underpin future market entry * Ensure all regulated communications, marketing, and customer-facing content meet compliance standards * Keep the business ahead of regulatory change, not scrambling to catch up RISK MANAGEMENT * Design and own the enterprise risk management framework, including risk appetite, policies, governance, and reporting. Leading risk identification, assessment, and mitigation across all business areas BUILDING THE TEAM AND CULTURE * Develop and manage a high-performing legal and compliance team as GetGround scales * Foster a compliance culture that enables the business rather than blocking it: pragmatic, proportionate, and trusted * Be a visible partner across every function: Finance, Product, Engineering, Operations, and Marketing ABOUT YOU You are a qualified solicitor with significant post-qualification experience and crucially, you have moved well beyond pure legal delivery. You are deeply commercial, a leader, and someone who can run the whole legal, compliance, and risk function independently. You bring: * Senior legal leadership experience: 6 + Years of PQE experience and experience heading up the legal function * Commercial instincts: you think like a business person first and a lawyer second, and you are trusted by leadership to make calls that balance risk with growth * FCA expertise: deep, hands-on knowledge of operating within FCA-regulated environments, including Consumer Duty, COBS, and MCOB * Compliance and financial crime: proven experience with AML, KYC, and financial crime frameworks, implemented proportionately and pragmatically * International outlook: you are comfortable thinking across jurisdictions and have the curiosity and commercial mindset to help GetGround navigate new markets as our expansion plans take shape * People leadership: you are as strong with people as you are with legal matters, and you know how to build culture, develop talent, and influence across a business * Board-level credibility: you are comfortable advising executives and presenting to boards, and you know how to influence without authority Highly desirable: * Experience with property, mortgage, or investment products * Familiarity with international or emerging market regulatory frameworks * Having held a named FCA-approved person status We know that great candidates don't always match every point on a job description.
