will be at the heart of many of these systems with a focus on high frequency trading.
We are looking for talented hardware engineers with a track record of achievement in any domain. You may have experience of
finance and trading, but it is not essential. You probably enjoy solving complex system problems where hardware and software come
together to provide high performance solutions. We are looking for a range of experience from graduates through to senior
engineers, so your achievements may be in academia or industry.

Base salary range for this position is $180,000 to $280,000 per year.

Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run. We want you as a talented FPGA engineer to help us in our mission by developing the electronic systems we need for our capsule to fly. You will be successful in this role if you are able to help us: * Write VHDL code to validate all needed functions in the FPGAs * Provide inputs to team in charge designing digital circuit boards with FPGAs and Microcontrollers for space environment * Design and validation of digital interfaces circuitry (CAN, RS422 UART, I2C, SPI, Spacewire, etc.) * Write first test software for the system to validate interfaces and hardware functions * Validating the design and ensuring failure tolerance and radiation tolerance of the functions KEY RESPONSIBILITIES In your capacity as a Digital Electronics Engineer, your role will be continuously evolving, but day to day your duties will include: * Digital electronics architecture design * FPGA design and verification * Close working together with Systems Engineers to define capabilities and requirements of the digital functionality * Writing first test software for the system to validate interfaces and hardware functions * Full test cycle from first power up of prototypes to serial test concept of flight hardware * Creation and adaptation of test scripts in Python for test automation WHAT WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE FROM YOU In the role of Digital Electronics Engineer ideally, you will have the following: * Finished bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Embedded Systems or similar (can be substituted with several years of relevant work experience) * Relevant work experience in FPGA / SoC design and / or verification * Experience using Microchip Libero or Xilinx Vivado * Solid VHDL / Verilog knowledge * Embedded software knowledge (MCUs, soft-cores) * Knowledge of VUnit/UVVM is a plus * Hands-on mentality working in the laboratory (Soldering, prototype board debugging, etc.) * Knowledge of radiation effects and radiation related failure mechanisms in electronic circuits is a plus (Single Event Upsets, Single Event Transients, etc.) * Knowledge of environmental qualification and relevant standards ECSS / NASA-HBK / NASA -CBCS / MIL-STD for programming, Interfaces, etc. is a plus. Working with trading teams you will take ownership of: * Translating trading ideas into the most appropriate solutions * Develop RTL on the latest FPGAs with modern design flows * Following through into production, analysing results and optimising Your present skillset: * A deep understanding of FPGA architecture leading to efficient designs * Full lifecycle RTL development including automated verification * Python scripting * A working knowledge of C/C++ development * An ability to see through complexity to identify simple solutions * A realisation that good teamwork is essential to modern development Base salary range for this position is $180,000 to $280,000 per year. YOUR (SPACE) MISSION As the FPGA Engineer at cosine you design and implement high‑performance FPGA image processing solutions that enable next‑generation Earth observation missions. You work at the intersection of electronics and software, turning raw sensor data into usable insights directly on hardware. Your work reduces data bandwidth, increases processing speed, and enables smart instruments that operate autonomously in space. Within cosine Remote Sensing you contribute to compact, high‑precision optical payloads used in real missions, from concept to deployment. TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES In this role you will: * Design, implement, and optimise FPGA architectures for real-time image processing pipelines * Translate image processing algorithms into efficient hardware implementations, including filtering, compression, and feature extraction * Perform general FPGA design tasks such as pipeline and architecture definition, building test benches, design verification and validation, and device configuration * Create and maintain board definition files, define I/O architecture, and manage boot configuration, in-flight reprogramming, memory management, and sensor readout * Collaborate with optical, electronics, and software engineers to integrate FPGA solutions into space-borne instruments * Verify and validate FPGA designs through simulation, hardware testing, and system-level integration * Contribute to continuous improvement of processing performance, power efficiency, and reliability for space applications * Expand existing designs to interface and read out to new devices such as imaging detectors and ADCs * Optimise data handling pipelines at challenging data rates, including offloading of CPU workloads into an FPGA YOUR PROFILE We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications: * BSc or equivalentin Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or a related field * Proven experience with FPGA development and validation using VHDL, Verilog and high level synthesis . * Experience with tools such as Vivado, Vitus, Quartus or similar FPGA design environments * Strong understanding of digital signal processing and image processing concepts * Affinity with embedded systems and hardware-software co-design * Interest in space technology, Earth observation, or high-performance instrumentation * Proactive, self-directed, asking the right questions to keep work aligned with the larger goal WHAT WE OFFER At cosine, we highly value our employees, and we will support your professional and personal development.
