Graphcore is expanding the hardware platforms that will power the next generation of AI compute. As Senior Semiconductor
Reliability Engineer, you will lead reliability strategy across advanced silicon nodes and packaging technologies.
You will shape reliability from technology selection and design enablement through bring-up, qualification and manufacturing. Your
work will help complex, high-performance devices move from ambitious design into robust production.
You will assess risk, guide sign-off, lead qualification and drive failure analysis across silicon, interconnect and package
technologies. This is a rare role at the centre of device physics, design, packaging and manufacturing.
The team and culture
You will work across silicon, packaging, manufacturing and quality, connecting technical detail with product-level decisions. Work
moves through direct ownership, clear evidence and fast escalation when risks need attention.
Decisions are grounded in data, modelling, qualification results and open technical debate. You will be expected to speak up,
challenge assumptions and turn complex findings into clear next steps.
This is a role for someone who thinks beyond individual tests. You will help build stronger reliability methods and mentor others
as Graphcore scales advanced AI hardware platforms.

About the job Build the operating system that helps Graphcore scale quality, resilience and production readiness. As an Integrated Management Systems Engineer, you will help shape the Graphcore way. WHAT YOU’LL DO Work on the definition and realization of next-generation compute architectures by driving system-level design, guiding cross-functional engineering teams, and delivering silicon from first concept to production. RESPONSIBILITIES * Carry the top-level architecture of Arago’s multiphysics compute platform, including processing elements, interconnects, memory subsystems, and system-level control. * Own the architectural vision from concept through tape-out, driving system modeling, specification, and implementation handoff across engineering teams. * Work and mentor cross-functional hardware teams across RTL design, functional verification, and physical integration to ensure consistent technical direction and execution quality. * Collaborate with software, packaging, and system integration teams to ensure architectural choices support overall platform scalability, performance, and reliability. * Evaluate new architectural directions, develop performance and cost models, and guide prototyping efforts to de-risk innovations for future product generations. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE * Proven track record in architecting complex, high-performance digital systems such as multicore processors, vector engines, and domain-specific accelerators. * Deep expertise in computer architecture, including memory hierarchies, interconnects, cache coherence, instruction set design, and performance-power-area trade-offs. * Hands-on experience with the design and integration of compute-intensive blocks such as vector arithmetic logic units (ALUs), SIMD pipelines, systolic arrays, and custom datapaths for signal or tensor processing. * Experience in leading full ASIC development cycles from architectural concept and modeling through RTL implementation, functional verification, physical design, and tape-out. * Experience with advanced system integration and packaging technologies such as HBM, chiplets, and 2.5D/3D integration, with a strong understanding of their architectural and system-level impact, is highly valued. * Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to align multidisciplinary teams (architecture, RTL, verification, software, and physical design) under a unified vision. Job Summary Reporting to the Quality leadership within Manufacturing Operations, the Senior Reliability Scientist is responsible for leading reliability activities across complex, high-performance systems. Working closely with established reliability experts and cross-functional teams, this role uses experimental data and advanced modelling to inform design decisions, validate product reliability and optimise serviceability strategies, including spares provisioning. The Team The Quality team within Manufacturing Operations is responsible for ensuring product robustness, reliability and lifecycle performance across Graphcore’s hardware portfolio. The team includes experienced reliability specialists and works closely with technology research, chip, board, system design, platform and operations teams to translate reliability insights into actionable improvements across the product lifecycle. Responsibilities and Duties: · Define and refine reliability requirements across silicon, board and system levels, working in partnership with research and design teams · Apply advanced reliability methodologies to highly innovative systems, including challenges associated with liquid-cooled architectures and fluid dynamics · Design and execute experiments to generate high-quality reliability and performance data, ensuring statistical rigour and relevance · Analyse experimental, field and manufacturing data to quantify reliability metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, RAS characteristics and soft error rates (SER) · Use data-driven insights to inform product design trade-offs, reliability targets and spares provisioning strategies · Collaborate with chip, board and system design teams to influence architecture and component selection based on reliability considerations · Support development of system-level reliability models incorporating thermal, mechanical and fluid behaviour · Lead complex root cause investigations into reliability issues, driving corrective and preventative actions across teams · Contribute to the evolution of reliability tools, processes and best practices within the organisation · Communicate complex reliability concepts, risks and recommendations clearly to a wide range of stakeholders Qualifications: * Strong background in reliability engineering or reliability science within semiconductor, hardware or complex systems environments * Experience of physics-of-failure approaches in high-performance computing, AI hardware or related domains * Experience with reliability modelling, experimental design and statistical data analysis * Proven ability to work with and interpret experimental reliability data to drive engineering decisions * Experience with key reliability metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, RAS and failure rate analysis * Ability to operate effectively in complex, cross-functional environments with multiple stakeholders * Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to lead technically challenging investigations independently * Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence design and operations teams using data-driven insights Preferred Qualification: · Experience with liquid cooling systems, fluid dynamics or thermally complex hardware environments · Knowledge of soft error mechanisms and SER modeling · Experience contributing to reliability strategy, processes or tooling improvements
