Working closely with our colleagues in Software Platform, Datacentre Operations and Product Development teams, you will deploy services on our fleet of cutting-edge AI systems. As part of our Software Platform organisation, you will be involved in the cloud integration, validation, performance benchmarking, optimisation, and development of our high-performance AI solutions.  These include in-house AI systems alongside off-the-shelf high-performance servers, switches and storage solutions.  This is a hand-on technical role requiring a solid background in the use of cloud infrastructure, deployment using Infrastructure-as-Code, observability, high-performance networking and storage systems.  You may have been working in an IT organisation, a datacentre, a cloud provider or as a developer of orchestration or cloud services.      The Software Platform team at Graphcore  We build Graphcore products into large-scale AI solutions for our customers and the Cloud Platform Team is responsible for providing such systems to both internal users via private clouds and customers via our own public clouds.  Often the internal systems will be using and developing pre-release hardware and software, so it’s vital you are comfortable with unproven components.    Responsibilities and Duties * Develop and operate Kubernetes-managed end-user services on our private clouds and support internal users in their use. You will turn end-user and product requirements into deployed services.  * Work with our Datacentre Operations Engineers to maintain and operate the fleet of AI systems at peak performance in our private clouds.  * Configure and test new Graphcore AI hardware and systems using Continuous Deployment and Infrastructure-as-code in internal and external datacentres.    Skills and Experience (all required)  * Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant subject.  * Experience with managing production Kubernetes clusters and workloads with a continuous delivery tool such as ArgoCD.  * Solid software engineering or IT experience with a proven track record of delivering technical output as an individual contributor.  * Experience working in an AGILE and SCRUM framework, including understanding of priorities, risks, issues, impacts and constraints.   * Strong proven Linux scripting ability (bash, python, awk, sed).  * Strong proven Linux system administration (Ubuntu, RHEL and variants).  * Experience with a version control system (preferably Git) and using it to manage system configuration or automation.  * Experience with Continuous Integration or testing pipelines using GitLab, GitHub or similar.  * A solid hands-on understanding of the technologies underpinning cloud services (APIs, virtualisation of CPUs, IO, systems), virtual networks, block storage, resource management and monitoring.  * Experience with IAC automation tools (Terraform/OpenTofu, Ansible, Packer).  * Good communication and presentation skills, and experience dealing with end-users of IT services.  * An ability to work independently on critical infrastructure with minimal oversight, and with a focus on end-user availability.     Desirable but not required:  * Experience with Openstack cloud platforms.  * Experience with solutions for monitoring and observability. e.g. Grafana, Prometheus, OpenSearch/ElasticSearch, Loki.   * Experience with High Performance Computing (HPC) environments using SLURM or similar batch workload solutions.  * Programming experience with Python3 utilising classes and inheritance.  Benefits In addition to a competitive salary, Graphcore offers flexible working, a generous annual leave policy, private medical insurance and health cash plan, a dental plan, pension (matched up to 5%), life assurance and income protection. Location: Onsite, Reno, NV Department: IT Employment Type: Full Time About the Role We're looking for a Staff Network Engineer to take ownership of network infrastructure across both our company facing systems and our product environment. This is a high impact, high visibility role: you'll be a key voice in shaping our internal product network design and in building the network architecture that will carry the company through its next phase of growth and scale. You'll work across corporate IT and product infrastructure, which means your day to day will range from designing switching and wireless architecture for our offices to architecting the network backbone that supports our product's underlying infrastructure. This is a role for someone who wants to build foundational systems, not just maintain them. What You'll Do • Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure supporting both corporate/company facing environments and product infrastructure • Serve as a technical lead on internal product network design, partnering with engineering, security, and operations teams to align network architecture with product requirements • Architect network solutions that scale with the company, anticipating growth in headcount, locations, and product infrastructure demands rather than reacting to it • Design, deploy, and manage Cisco and Meraki network environments, including switching, wireless, security appliances, and SD WAN • Build enterprise grade network infrastructure from the ground up in new or greenfield environments, including physical office builds, data center connectivity, and cloud network integration • Establish network standards, documentation, and best practices to ensure consistency and repeatability as the organization scales • Lead capacity planning and license/hardware lifecycle management across the network estate • Own network security fundamentals in partnership with security teams: segmentation, firewall policy, VPN/AutoVPN design, and access control • Troubleshoot and resolve complex, high impact network issues across LAN, WAN, and wireless environments • Evaluate new technologies, vendors, and architectures, and make recommendations that balance cost, performance, and scalability • Mentor other engineers and act as a technical escalation point for network related issues What We're Looking For • 7+ years of experience in network engineering, with demonstrated progression into senior or staff level scope • Hands on experience building and managing Cisco and Meraki network environments (switching, wireless, security appliances, SD WAN/AutoVPN) • Proven experience building enterprise network infrastructure from the ground up, standing up networks in new environments, not just administering existing ones • Strong understanding of routing and switching fundamentals, VLANs, network segmentation, and WAN architecture • Experience designing networks that support both traditional corporate IT environments and product/technical infrastructure • Familiarity with network security principles: firewalls, VPN architecture, zero trust concepts, and access control • Experience with capacity planning and architecting for scale in a growing organization • Strong documentation habits and the ability to communicate technical designs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders • Relevant certifications preferred (CCNP, CCIE, Meraki certifications, or equivalent experience) Nice to Have • Experience with data center or colocation network design • Exposure to cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP VPC/VNet architecture) • Experience with network automation and infrastructure as code tooling • Background supporting physical security/access control systems integration with network infrastructure Why This Role Matters As the company grows, our network is the foundation everything else runs on, from the tools our employees use every day to the infrastructure behind our product.
