As Component Engineer, you will support NPI and volume manufacturing across Graphcore’s hardware products. You will help specify,
select and source the components needed for performance, reliability, quality and yield.
Your work will connect engineering requirements with supplier capability and manufacturing reality. You will manage component
data, BOM revisions, compliance checks, supply risks and alternative sourcing routes.
You will work with manufacturing, test, quality, supply chain, suppliers and contract manufacturers. You will also help identify
enabling component technologies for next generation products.
This role suits someone who enjoys detail, electronics and practical problem solving. You will influence decisions that protect
product delivery and strengthen manufacturing resilience.
The team and culture
You will join the Manufacturing and Technology Process team within Operations. The team works across Bristol, Cambridge and
Taiwan, close to foundry, package assembly and PCBA subcontractors.
Work happens through clear ownership, careful data management and direct engagement with internal and external partners. You will
speak up when component risk, quality or supply continuity needs action.
Decisions are grounded in technical evidence, supplier insight and manufacturing impact. The team values people who act
responsibly, move issues forward and keep complex details under control.

Dimensional Inspector in the Purchasing Department We are looking for our client, a dimensional inspector Specializing in Raw and Finished Machined Cast Components A Snapshot of Your Day In the purchasing organization, you will independently perform manual dimensional inspections at supplier sites for components used in gas and steam turbines. You will ensure that inspections are carried out according to specifications and will be responsible for reviewing the technical and formal aspects of the documentation. If any discrepancies arise, you will clearly document and communicate these issues, collaborating with a cross-departmental team to determine the necessary corrective actions. You will work as part of a global team, engaging with colleagues across various regions. How You Can Make an Impact · Take charge of preparing, executing, and following up on dimensional inspections for both raw and finished cast components. · Lead supplier qualification and development initiatives, actively contributing to the enhancement of supplier quality and the quality of purchased parts. · Implement preventive measures at suppliers to proactively address and mitigate potential quality issues. · Collaborate effectively with a global team and internal stakeholders to drive quality improvements. · Conduct internal reviews of technical drawings to ensure compliance and accuracy. Responsibilities • Support directed component selection for upcoming designs, coordinating with the client's Component Engineering team and vendors to help meet vehicle mission and reliability targets. • Assist Component Reliability and ECU Reliability teams with Bill of Materials (BoM) reviews against vehicle life requirements and design guidelines, including coordinating vendor actions. • Maintain the list of major component risks and controllers as directed, with routine vendor follow-ups for updates and data. • Prepare and send vendor communications on reliability requirements, targets, and test plans, and manage follow-up responses. • Collect, organize, and format component reliability test data from vendors, including routine follow-ups for missing or updated information. • Execute root-cause coordination tasks, including meeting logistics, data collection, and regular Contract Manufacturer / vendor follow-ups to close action items. • Engage vendors directly in discussions on parts, specifications, and sourcing. Qualifications • BS in Electrical Engineering preferred; Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field acceptable. • Demonstrated understanding of electronic hardware components, their qualification, and their reliability (e.g., ICs/chips, transistors, and related discrete and passive components). • Ability to read, interpret, and work from component and design specifications. • Exceptional organizational skills—the engineer will independently maintain their own lists of parts, specifications, risks, and vendor actions. • Experience engaging vendors on parts and sourcing discussions. • Component reliability experience strongly preferred.
