The Opportunity We are hiring a Senior Program Manager / Principal Program Manager, Finance & Controllership to lead complex, high-impact initiatives across Finance, Controllership, and broader business functions. This role is best suited for someone with strong business, finance, and accounting acumen who can operate effectively in ambiguous environments and connect the dots across business models, accounting treatment, operating processes, controls, systems, reporting, and tax considerations. The scope of the role goes beyond process improvement or project coordination. The person in this role will help shape and drive initiatives such as setting up new business units, designing scalable finance and accounting structures, improving financial operations, and solving cross-functional business problems that require sound judgment across finance, operations, and systems. We are looking for someone who is highly logical, learns quickly, and is able to move fluidly between strategy and detail — someone who can independently structure complex problems, challenge assumptions, and turn ambiguity into practical, executable solutions. Key Responsibilities * Lead end-to-end delivery of strategic and operational initiatives across Controllership, Accounting, Finance Operations, and business transformation. * Structure ambiguous business problems into clear workplans, decision points, and actionable recommendations. * Partner with Finance, Accounting, Tax, Legal, Product, Systems, and Operations teams to design practical solutions that are operationally scalable and financially sound. * Evaluate implications of changes across accounting, reporting, controls, tax, legal-entity setup, systems, and operating processes. * Help design and implement finance-ready operating models for new business initiatives, organizational changes, or structural changes. * Drive clarity on business requirements, governance, milestones, interdependencies, and execution risks. * Prepare high-quality materials for senior stakeholders and leadership, including decision memos, steering updates, and recommendations with clear trade-offs. * Go beyond coordination by diving into details where needed to validate assumptions, solve issues, and move execution forward. * Establish practical frameworks, templates, and methodologies that improve consistency and execution quality across projects. Examples of Initiatives You May Lead * Setting up new business units or operating models, including finance process design, accounting considerations, reporting readiness, and governance requirements. * Designing accounting and finance structures to support new products, new markets, or organizational changes. * Driving improvements in core finance operations such as AP, AR, collections, credit risk, reconciliations, and close-related processes. * Solving cross-functional issues that require balancing business needs with accounting, tax, control, and system constraints. * Leading finance transformation projects involving process redesign, policy interpretation, data flows, controls, and operating model changes. * Supporting strategic decisions where financial, operational, and structural implications need to be assessed holistically. Required Qualifications * 7+ years of relevant experience in program management, finance transformation, controllership, strategic finance, accounting operations, consulting, or similar roles. * Strong understanding of accounting, finance operations, and controllership concepts, with the ability to apply this knowledge in real business situations. * Proven ability to structure and drive ambiguous, cross-functional problems that require both strategic thinking and hands-on execution. * Demonstrated experience working on initiatives involving some combination of business processes, accounting treatment, reporting, controls, operating models, systems, and governance. * Ability to assess issues holistically and connect implications across business, finance, tax, accounting, and operational dimensions. * Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complexity into concise recommendations and decision-ready materials. * High ownership and strong follow-through; willing to dive into details rather than operate only at a coordination level. * Excellent written and verbal communication in English. * Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications * Experience in finance controllership, accounting advisory, strategic finance, or business transformation. * Background in industries such as travel tech, e-commerce, fintech, or other fast-paced, complex operating environments. * Familiarity with entity setup, intercompany structures, accounting policy interpretation, reporting structures, or tax/control considerations. * Experience working with or alongside Product, Systems, or Data teams, while representing a strong business/finance perspective. * CPA, CA, ACCA, CFA, or other relevant finance/accounting qualifications are a plus. * Relevant certifications that augment program management like PMP / PRINCE2 / Agile are a plus. Key Skills & Attributes * Strong business and finance judgment * Highly logical and quick to learn * Able to connect the dots across different domains * Comfortable with ambiguity and problem solving * Hands-on, detail-oriented, and execution-focused * Structured thinker with strong communication skills * Confident engaging senior stakeholders while remaining practical and grounded in the details #LI-NS2 #Taipei #Hongkong #Singapore #Kualalumpur #Shanghai #Beijing #Tokyo #Seoul #Hanoi #Bangkok #Phuket #Pakistan #Bangladesh #Manila #HoChiMinh #Nigeria #SriLanka #Jakarta #Prague #Berlin #Madrid #Sofia #Budapest #Lisbon #Rome #Colombia #Atlanta #GreaterSaoPaulo #India #Mumbai #Bangalore #Kaizen #LeanSixSigma #Lean#CPA#Accounting #Finance#FinanceOperation #FinanceOptimization #Processimprovement #Financeandaccounting #PTP #RTR #GL #Generalledger #AR #AP #LeanPractitioner #OEP #CBPP #OperationalExcellenceProfessionalCertification #CertifiedBusinessProcessProfessional #LeanPractitioner PLEASE REVIEW OUR HIRING PROCESS GUIDELINES BEFORE YOUR INTERVIEW — CLICK HERE TO LEARN HOW INTERVIEWING AT AGODA WORKS. Today, we're a team of just over 80 employees, continuing to build one of the world's most beloved geography games. We're looking for a Business Controller / Accounting Manager to help shape the next phase of our finance function. The role is designed in two phases. Initially, you'll take full ownership of the accounting function while our current Accounting Manager is on parental leave. Once returning, your role will transition as planned to focus primarily on Business Controlling—a new function that you'll lead and develop together with our CFO. This is a unique opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their career with increasing responsibility in Business Controlling. You'll help build a new function from the ground up, working closely with our CFO to improve how GeoGuessr measures performance and supports business-critical decision-making. If you're motivated by combining accounting, analysis, and business in an international growth company, we'd love to hear from you. Role Overview Initially, you'll be responsible for the entire accounting process, ensuring high quality across day-to-day accounting, month-end and year-end closing, and financial reporting. Once the parental leave period ends, the role will transition to primarily focus on Business Controlling. Together with the CFO, you'll build and further develop our controlling function with the goal of creating better business insights, stronger performance follow-up, and more effective decision support. A key part of the role will be developing how we measure and manage the business through relevant KPIs, dashboards, reports and business-focused analysis. You'll also have a key role in budgeting, forecasting, performance reporting, profitability analysis, and scenario planning to support both strategic and operational decision-making. You'll continue to play an important role within the accounting function, contributing your accounting expertise during month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, and other periods of high workload. Success in this role requires a strong accounting foundation combined with a business-oriented mindset and a genuine interest in analysis. Accounting Own the company's accounting function, including month-end and year-end closing and day-to-day accounting. Ensure financial processes comply with internal policies, accounting standards, and applicable regulations. Manage tax calculations, tax returns, VAT, and other tax-related matters. Handle all payroll administration, including payroll processing, accounting, taxes, and payments. Drive automation and continuous improvement of finance processes, including the use of AI. Act as the primary contact for external auditors and lead the annual audit process. Long-term – Business Controlling Analyze revenue, costs, and profitability. Define and further develop relevant KPIs. Build dashboards and management reporting. Identify trends, deviations, and opportunities for improvement. Drive the budgeting, forecasting, and performance follow-up processes. Prepare business cases, scenario analyses, and decision support for management. Who are you? We believe you have: Several years of experience in qualified accounting, with full responsibility for the closing process of a Swedish legal entity. It's a plus if you've already gained experience in Controlling. A solid understanding of accounting principles, tax, and financial reporting. A strong interest in Business Controlling and a desire to work closer to the business through analysis and decision support. A structured, analytical, and self-driven way of working. A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Strong communication skills in both Swedish and English. What we offer Breakfast and lunch at the office every day. 6 weeks of vacation + 3 extra days off, for a well-deserved rest. Pension and insurance as per ITP1 guidelines. Annual learning and development budget of SEK 50,000. Wellness allowance of SEK 5,000. The opportunity to work out during office hours. A vibrant office with high energy, great colleagues, and a fully stocked kitchen with snacks and drinks. A unique office in Glashuset by Slussen, overlooking Stockholm. Note.
