We are looking for a Sr. Manager, Field Engineering – Lakebase, to join our world-class hyper-growth organization. In this role, you will lead a specialized team of pre-sales Solutions Architects focused on our high priority product-line, Lakebase.  The team will engage with complex, strategic accounts, helping drive the growth and expansion of our Lakebase product offering in a territory that spans across multiple verticalized business units.. Your experience partnering with sales organizations will help grow consumption, while coaching new sales and pre-sales team members to work together and raise the bar to best-in-class execution. Your team will engage, plan and strategically align with direct account teams in the verticalized business units, jointly engaging clients as you help ensure Lakebase is adopted and provides tremendous value to our customers. You will guide your team and be involved in initiatives to enhance its effectiveness. You must be an expert at communicating complex, business-value-focused solutions, while remaining deeply technical as you position, explain, and are seen as a credible technical leader in the transactional database (OLTP) domain; support a complex consumption motion; and build relationships with key stakeholders in large enterprises. This role will report to a Global Lakebase leader in Field Engineering. THE IMPACT YOU WILL HAVE: * Hire and manage a team of technical pre-sales Solutions Architects focused on Lakebase. * Build a collaborative culture within a rapid-growth team that embodies and promotes Databricks’ customer-obsessed, team-first, and diverse values. * Support our growing Lakebase business, focusing on customer value and enabling your SA team to drive technical adoption and consumption. * Support increased return on investment of Solutions Architect involvement in sales cycles. * Create trust-based, long-term customer relationships and deeply understand transactional databases (OLTP), along with data platform, data warehousing (OLAP), AI, app development and cloud market landscapes and trends, reporting on the forces that shift the strategic direction of accounts. * Promote a solution-, value-, and technical-based field engineering organization focused on modern data architectures, operational workloads, and AI-native applications. * Display an understanding of business needs and revenue potential for accounts in the assigned region. * Build Databricks’ Lakebase brand across the market in partnership with Marketing, Product, and Sales teams. * Partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to translate customer feedback, technical requirements, and competitive insights into field readiness and product evolution. WHAT WE LOOK FOR: * 5+ years of first-line or second-line leadership experience, with teams of 7+ individuals (first-line) or 20+ individuals (second-line). * Relevant high-growth enterprise software pre-sales success with senior-level tenure at a reputable software company, with experience in transactional (OLTP) database technologies, ideally including data warehousing, cloud infrastructure, data platforms, or AI solutions. * Ability to elevate executive engagement with a track record of driving large consumption and high-growth customers. * Proven leadership ability to influence, develop, and empower your team to achieve objectives with a team approach. * Proven track record of transformational success and delivery of customer value. * Track record of building strong ecosystems of strategic customer relationships and cross-functional partnerships (Sales, Engineering, Product, Marketing). * Experience in complex strategic accounts generating $1M+ ARR. * Knowledgeable in and passionate about data-driven decisions, AI, cloud software models, operational data systems, and modern database architectures. * Great at instituting processes for technical field members to improve efficiency and execution. * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience through work experience. * Up to 30% travel at times.   Pay Range Transparency Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents the expected base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles.  Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks anticipated utilizing the full width of the range. WHAT'S EXCITING ABOUT THE ROLE The Senior Systems Engineer is a hands-on, operationally accountable role at the heart of Verifone's Americas IT Infrastructure team. You will serve as a key technical contributor to Verifone's VMware-to-KVM/CloudStack migration program and broader platform operations — bringing depth across Linux, Windows, storage, and DevOps tooling while operating within a PCI DSS environment. This is a role for an experienced engineer who can independently own workstreams, mentor junior team members, and drive cross-team initiatives with limited supervision. You will proactively identify issues, propose solutions, and deliver results that directly impact Verifone's infrastructure reliability and compliance posture. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Virtualization & Cloud Platform * Lead the design and execution of KVM/libvirt hypervisor deployments across US data centers. * Drive VMware-to-KVM/CloudStack workload migrations end-to-end, including planning, VM conversion, storage migration, and cutover coordination. * Administer CloudStack zones, clusters, templates, and storage pools; own VM lifecycle operations at scale. * Independently troubleshoot complex hypervisor, networking, and storage performance issues. DevOps Tooling & Automation * Own and maintain Ansible playbooks for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and patching at scale. * Build and manage Jenkins CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure-as-code workflows and automated deployments. * Lead adoption of Git-based IaC practices across the team and guide junior engineers' automation contributions. * Develop Python and Bash automation to reduce operational toil and improve consistency across environments. Windows & Linux Server Operations * Administer RHEL/Rocky/Ubuntu Linux and Windows Server environments — provisioning, patching, hardening, and lifecycle management. * Support Active Directory domain decommission and consolidation, including legacy Windows Server migration activities. * Enforce OS security baselines aligned to PCI DSS v4.0 and provide evidence for audit cycles. * Serve as Tier 3 escalation for OS-level incidents across Linux and Windows platforms. Storage * Manage SAN/NAS environments including LUN provisioning, zoning, multipath I/O, and iSCSI/FC configuration. * Support Pure Storage FlashArray and VMAX operations, migrations, and performance troubleshooting. * Integrate block and file storage with KVM/CloudStack primary and secondary storage pools. Team & Cross-Functional Collaboration * Provide guidance and day-to-day support to junior engineers; assist with onboarding and informal training. * Liaise with networking, security, and storage teams to coordinate complex cross-domain changes. * Participate in on-call rotation as a senior escalation resource. * Document runbooks, architecture decisions, and procedures in Confluence; manage work via ServiceNow and Jira. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * 7+ years in enterprise systems engineering or IT infrastructure, with demonstrated scope expansion over time  * 4+ years of production KVM/libvirt hypervisor management  * Strong Linux administration — RHEL/Rocky/CentOS or Debian-based at scale  * Windows Server administration — Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, GPO, and domain lifecycle  * Ansible — authoring and maintaining playbooks for multi-environment configuration management  * Jenkins or equivalent CI/CD pipeline experience for infrastructure automation  * Scripting proficiency in Bash and Python  * SAN storage administration — LUN management, zoning, multipath I/O, iSCSI or Fibre Channel  * Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and guide technical work  * Experience working within PCI DSS or another regulated compliance framework  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * CloudStack or OpenStack orchestration platform experience  * Prior VMware-to-KVM migration programme experience  * Pure Storage FlashArray or Dell EMC VMAX/PowerMax administration  * HPE Synergy or BladeSystem chassis operations  * RHCE, RHCSA, or equivalent Linux certification  * Git-based IaC workflow experience (Terraform, GitOps patterns)  * Exposure to SIEM/FIM tooling (Wazuh, Splunk, or similar)  OUR COMMITMENT Verifone is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
